Sinking launches

Whenever a launch sinks there is hue and cry, but after some time everything quietens down just to prove that 'time is a great healer'.

The reason behind sinking of the launches is that the weird contraption known as 'launch' is designed to sink. This will be clear to you when you compare the statistics of sinking of passenger launches with sinking of inland and coastal passenger vessels. While launches have sunk at regular intervals, there has not been one instance of any major disaster involving inland and coastal passenger vessels operated by BIWTC.

BIWTC operates two passenger vessels between Chittagong and Barisal. Though these vessels are over forty years old and have to cross the turbulent sea, no mishap has taken place so far.
