Smoking and celebrities

We, particularly the young people, have some models that we like to follow in our life. In this media-dominated society, people lean towards celebrities. Needless to say, the Argentine football legend Diego Maradona is very popular in Bangladesh as elsewhere in the world.

On June 18, a newspaper published a photo of Maradona puffing a cigar that was credited to the AP. When the social activists around the world are campaigning against smoking, such a photograph could be a setback for their campaign.

Shouldn't the press be aware of the downside of such publicity?
