Onion is sold at Tk 25-30 per kg now all over Bangladesh. Just before the holy Ramadan, its price was Tk 20-24 . Then an eminent politician said in a BBC interview that the price of onion was Tk 45 per kg!

Since the price seemed to me unusual, I visited the bazaar just after the news broadcast from BBC on October 14 and found the price varying between Tk 20-24 !

Brinjal is sold at a very high price during this holy month due to two reasons, I think. One is the production of vegetables has decreased much after the flood and the incessant rains. The other cause is the demand of brinjal for preparing 'beguni' as a very popular Iftar item.
