Some thoughts on budget

1. The budgets are usually a routine affair-- as we have resource constraints and less tax return there is not much room for new things. So this time round, it is again as usual, big budget and nothing much for the masses.

2. Unless we can build a strong commitment for development, we can't change this scenario.

3. We must not give the elites the chance of making undue profits - but they are getting it and there is less subsidy always for the poor class. We are creating a much more materialistic society and also creating demand for the luxury items that are expensive and not so necessary. We must think on this point -- moral perspective - whether we should serve the many poor or the few rich. This also leads to more corruption and loopholes in the administration.

4. We must think of some amount to spend for the rehabilitation of the poor on the streets and make a plan to spend the amount in 10/15 years.

5. Also, tax return must be strictly ensured. And here is the problem; many of us are drifting towards corruption, even the fresh graduates - before getting a job, dream of becoming rich through corrupt means.

The opposition must not play a political game on budget. This does not serve the nation or the people.
