Stabilisation of politics

It was a pleasure for me to read Dr. Matiur Rahman's comments. The contents of his letter correctly represent the situation that is blocking the progress of the country. The remedy Dr. Matiur Rahman has suggested can certainly contribute toward stabilisation of the political atmosphere, thereby accelerating the realisation of our dream of establishment of "Sonar Bangla".

About a month back, The World Bank talked of criminalisation of our political machinery. Interestingly, at about the same time an international organisation pointed out two diametrically opposite phenomena in our country. On the one hand, in the world scenario Bangladesh is the most corrupt country, but on the other, its inhabitants are the happiest people in the world. In other words, our people are the nicest but they are being exploited by the power hungry politicians and industrialists to serve their own selfish interests.

As the situation stands, no radical change is possible until there is a mass upheaval.
