Stop renaming NU
In fact, such kind of renaming will hamper our educational career in various ways. If the government take the initiative to rename NU, we will get the certificates from "Ziaur Rahman National University". After the change of government it may be again renamed and then we, the students, will face real trouble. International institutions and corporations may not find, in the event of another change in name, any university named 'Ziaur Rahman National University' in Bangladesh. It will be hard for them to realise the situation in Bangladesh. So for the sake of general students, they should stop the name game.
National University itself has many problems in imparting quality higher education and providing standard facilities in comparison to other public universities in Bangladesh. In this position renaming will create more problems both in our classes and in our campuses.
Moreover, it would not be a wise decision to rename an old institution into another one. This renaming will definitely not brighten the image of the late president Ziaur Rahman. Rather it will create controversy among common people as well as common students.
Instead of renaming the NU, the government can establish a new public university and name it after the late leader.
