Think of undercarriages

Instead of building expensive flyovers all over Dhaka city, it's time undercarriages at busy intersections were considered.

Take, for instance, the road in front of the SAARC Fountain. On any given day traffic is constantly held hostage for at least 15-20 minutes. It can be even longer in the evenings. So, to ease the motorists' woes, can't an underpass be constructed on that particular stretch of road to facilitate the smooth movement of fast moving vehicles underground?

It makes no sense blocking an entire road while buses and mini buses are allowed to compete in a mad race to pick up and drop off passengers right in front of it.

If they do their homework the authorities would learn that such alternatives to fancy flyovers would also be cost-effective.

In fact, undercarriages are nothing new. England and America have long been using them to reduce traffic congestion on busy roads, and more recently Thailand has introduced a system of undercarriages too.
