Tourism is very important for the development of Bangladesh's economic sector. Bangladesh is a country of natural beauty. It has many natural and historical tourist spots. We have the longest sea-beach and the largest mangrove forest of the world. Besides, the tea gardens of Sylhet, Hill Tracts of Chittagong. Buddhist Bihar of Paharpur, Lalbag Fort of Dhaka etc. Moreover, the Sundarbans, Shat Gambuj Mosque of Bagerhat and Buddhist Bihar of Paharpur are enlisted as world heritage sites. It is a matter of regret that we have failed to attract local and international tourists. But countries like, Singapore, Indonesia, Nepal, the Maldives etc earn the major portion of their national incomes from this sector. So, we must develop this sector to earn a significant amount of revenue. And for this, the government should take some pragmatic steps; such as:
1. Develop the communications system.
2. Build standard hotels, motels and guest houses.
3. Stop terrorist activities.
4. Enhance security at tourist spots.
5. Disseminate information about the tourist spots both locally and internationally.
