The nation has celebrated the Amor Ekushey and the International Mother Language Day in a very spontaneous and solemn way. People from all walks of life paid their tribute to the Martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the dignity and emancipation of our mother tongueBangla.

We've enough reason to be proud of our language and it's a point to ponder whether we've done due justice to it or not. It's a pity that we've squeezed the spirit to a one-day celebration. We've utterly failed to properly understand the essence and its implementation in our life.

There is an elite class who hardly speak in Bangla. The young generation is in a great dilemma since learning English guarantees many advantages. Learning English is a must to fit in the global business, but not at the expense of Bangla.

Congratulations for the special Ekushey issue.
