Us and them
We, irrespective of class and status, have been talking of poverty alleviation and establishing a nation free of discrimination and inequalities. We understand well what we've achieved in this holy endeavour of ours. But when you walk across the roads and happen to encounter beggars in many forms you might not be moved to do something for them- or you hardly manage to have a glance on their plight.
We usually see beggars of many kinds, some are disabled and poor and some are just mere children lying all day long on the footpaths of the roads. Their inhuman plight hardly moves us. Do we live up to our ideological beliefs? A humble question though and I also belong to the same group of busy and nothing-to-do species!
