The World Cup football fever has gripped the whole world, Bangladesh is no exception. Amidst amusement & enthusiasm there is something in the show that appears to be appalling at times. While crossing the Agrabad crossing on Sheikh Mujib Road, Chittagong the other day, I happened to notice a bizarre scene. People at the crossing were standing glued to a huge billboard size TV on a regular billboard on the road. It was a bizarre situation: rickshaw-pullers were casting irregular glances, drivers of other vehicles were doing the same. It was a hazardous situation. Similar situations arose in many other places.

If people remain engrossed in football even when they are travelling, accidents may occur any time.
