Western propaganda
Mahathir (of Malaysia) is right (report in DS Oct 12), shun propaganda on the Western materialistic philosophies of life. We have been indoctrinated by this imperialism for centuries (examine the effects of 200 years of British Raj). Earlier he blasted the nincompoop OIC for its impotent stance on global affairs, and the merciless exploitation of Muslims and the oppressions resulting thereof. Where is the whiff of local, natural air-conditioning (native environment)?
Parroting local leaders may be compelled through public opinion to retire into oblivion. Fossils are inactive viruses, for show only. In Dhaka, the years 2004-5 are critical for governance. Change is better than no change. Change means adjusting to new/changing inputs. Hopes and aspirations are new and changing inputs. Lagging leaders are left behind. Forward leaders keep the marchers on their toes. We are sitting ugly, not pretty!
