Who gains from hartals?
We had a 36-hour hartal, but we have not assessed it achievements for the country . If I look back, I would find few public buses , mini buses, cars, vans, baby-taxis on the streets. Some people lost their properties and some of them were injured. Prices of daily necessities have gone further up. It seems the elite people understand the democratic norms and are very vocal about it, using jargons in their glib talks. But do they behave in a democratic manner in their own premises/affairs?
Some people were able to make political gains from the hartal, but I guess the vast majority of the people were losers.
