Why this failure?

Why has Bangladesh failed to get elected to the post of OIC secretary general? People of this country were given to understand in a sustained media campaign made by the foreign ministry that Bangladesh has the support of most of the member countries. Obviously, the press campaign was made on wrong information. Why Bangladesh has failed, the first cause is Bangladesh itself the reputation it enjoys in the outside world is that of the " most corrupt country" in the world in three successive international surveys.

The second cause was certainly the selection of the candidate. Our candidate may have been one of the best parliamentarians in the country, a politically important background , but was he really the best candidate for such a post? Obviously, the head of the government was not correctly advised.

The advisors were certainly not competent people. It is time we pondered over this question. Would not our debacle raise the next question why so much of public money was wasted, in fact for nothing, and the country got humiliated.

The moral of the story is 'Bangladesh should not try to win such prestigious international posts until the country's image is changed'.
