Why this show?
When the whole world is trying to recover from the natural disaster caused by Tsunami and trying to extend their helping hand to revive the hopes among the survivors, an MP of our parliament is reported to have spent an astronomical amount of money for the wedding ceremony of his son. Personally, I am speechless after reading that news reported in the Daily Prothom Alo (January 8, 2005).
Sometimes I wonder what our politicians are made of. Although at certain times we see them handing over relief materials (may not be from their own pocket) to the needy people, but they do so for publicity, rather than from fellow-feeling.
Well, perhaps there is little to be done when most of the sensible elite of our country support such acts and encourage others to do so.
