Woes of a young girl
Rozy, a young Bihari girl aged only 16, used to feel insecure in her daily life. She is tall, eye-catching and attractive. But these qualities are going to mar security in her life. She is living in a Bihari community situated in Bejpara, Jessore. Her father is living in Pakistan. She has not even seen him. She used to live with her poor mother. They are living in a very small house with her sister and brother. They have no access to pure water, sanitary latrine and are even unable to take shower every day due to non-availability of water. They are living under poverty line.
The mother of Rozy is illiterate, so she was not able to admit her to school.
But Rozy is now a teen-aged girl. So young boys are after her.
Rozy's mother discussed the matter with one representative of MAAPSI who is working to ensure human rights. They appointed her as a housekeeper and she is feeling a bit secure.
Such issues need to be addressed by social organisations.
