Rule of law or the will of some?

Even if the police establish Babul's involvement in the murder, they cannot force him to resign using it as a bargaining weapon. Case for overcoming the ostrich syndrome

The final week of May 2016 was a grisly one. More than 700 asylum seekers and migrants died as three boats attempting to carry them to Italy sunk in the Mediterranean, and the death toll for the year crossed 2000.

Bangladesh will not run out of gas any time soon

In reality, the expected gas richness has not been visible because of the lack of exploration. Far more exploration needs to be carried out in order to unravel its true gas potential.

If we really want genuinely free and fair elections. . .

We need an EC which is truly independent from all aspects; this independence does not only mean structural independence, but operational and financial independence along with individual independence of the election commissioners.

Illiberal Democracy or Undemocratic Liberalism?

It is hardly surprising, then, that citizens on both sides of the Atlantic feel that they are no longer masters of their political fate. For all intents and purposes, they now live under a regime that is liberal, yet undemocratic: a system in which their rights are mostly respected but their political preferences are routinely ignored.

MCQ and the Creative Question system

The student who will have the skill to analyse all the information of the text will be able to pick the fourth option as the correct answer. So, it is unwise to say that students don't learn anything from MCQs and is easy to get higher marks.

Anomalous case of incarcerated 'released prisoners'

The right to secure protection and to access justice by asylum seekers and refugees is a long established principle. There is enough evidence to show that due to fear of being arrested under the FA the undocumented Rohingyas refrain from reporting any offence committed against them.

Armenians in Dhaka

I am intrigued by the common history of massacre that Armenians and Bangladeshis share, and how this history, in many ways, shapes the national personality of these two peoples. More fascinating yet that Dhaka presents a robust Armenian history.
