BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir says Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary celebration will not be successful as the government has kept BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia in jail.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth centenary celebration will not be successful as the government has kept BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia in jail.
Replying to a query of journalists, Fakhrul said, "It is a mockery, farce. Khaleda Zia had struggled and landed in jail numerous times to ensure democracy in the country. Even now she is in jail…"
Fakhrul came up with the remarks while talking to reporters after placing wreaths at the grave of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman.
He also criticised the government for inviting Indian premier Narendra Modi at Mujib Borsho celebration.
Fakhrul also said his party is taking part in elections as part of their movement to release Khaleda Zia from jail.
