Diplomats inspect BNP’s damaged vehicles

Diplomats from 16 countries visited BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office in Dhaka this afternoon and inspected the damaged vehicles, which came under attack when the party chief was campaigning at Karwan Bazar in Dhaka yesterday.
BNP yesterday briefed the diplomats and the EU stationed in Dhaka about the Monday’s attack.
A four-member delegation of BNP, led by Standing Committee Member Abdul Moyeen Khan, elaborately narrated the incident in today's meeting with the diplomats around 4:15pm at Khaleda’s Gulshan office.
The diplomats of 16 countries, including India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the UK, France, Australia, Canada, Russia, and the EU attended the meeting.
After around 45-minute-long meeting, Khaleda’s security and Defence Affairs Adviser Maj Gen (retd) Fazle Elahi Akbar showed the foreign envoys a scratch in the glass of the BNP chief’s personal vehicle caused by what he claimed a bullet of the attackers.
The BNP leaders also showed them blood-stained spots in the vehicle.
Four damaged microbuses of Khaleda’s security men during the attack were also shown to the diplomats.
Around 150 activists of Jubo League, Swechchhasebak League, Shramik League and Chhatra League attacked the vehicles with brick chips and hit those with wooden sticks at Karwan Bazar for around 15 minutes from 5:45pm yesterday.
Some 15 people, including her personal secretary, got injured. Four of them were admitted to United Hospital.
