Manna out on bail
Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna has been released on bail after spending nearly two years in prison over sedition and criminal charges.
Jahangir Kabir, senior jail superintendent of Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj, told The Daily Star Manna was freed around 7:50pm after receiving relevant documents.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. Manna was in jail for 22 months without trial. No investigation report was filed against the charges pressed on Manna and there was no progress of his trial thus far.

Manna was arrested on February 25, 2015, a day after his phone conversations with BNP leader Sadeque Hossain Khoka, regarding strengthening the anti-government movement, were leaked.
That day, a case was filed against him for instigating the armed forces to topple the government.
On November 28, 2016, the Supreme Court upheld Manna’s bail with discomfort, as the government's “investigation into Manna’s case was not satisfactory”.
