The Supreme Court upholds a High Court order that had granted bail to BNP leader Rizvi Ahmed in five criminal cases.

The Supreme Court today upheld a High Court order that had granted bail to BNP leader Rizvi Ahmed in five criminal cases.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi’s bail was upheld as Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Hasan Foyez Siddique passed “no order” on five separate petitions filed by the government seeking stay on the HC order.
However, Rizvi cannot get released from the jail as he was arrested in another criminal case.
The HC on September 7 granted six months’ bail to Rizvi in the five cases.
The cases were filed with different police stations including Paltan, Khilgaon and Motijheel.
The government filed the petitions recently.
