Thailand gives 1 million Baht for Rohingya refugees' food
Thailand has provided one million Baht (Tk 3,085,467.45 or around USD 28,000) to support the efforts of WFP Bangladesh in providing food to the Rohingya displaced persons in Bangladesh.
Thai Ambassador to Bangladesh Makawadee Sumitmor today represented the Royal Thai Government in presenting the amount to Domenico Scalpelli, resident representative and country director of World Food Programme (WFP) Bangladesh, according to a press release issued in this regard.
The assistance will enable WFP to allocate food to 3,500 displaced persons for one month.
Domenico Scalpelli thanked and expressed appreciation for Thailand's role in continuing supports to UN agencies and international organisations to provide humanitarian assistance to Rohingya displaced persons in Bangladesh since 2017.
Thailand will continue to work closely with WFP in alleviating the food ration crisis which is an ongoing and serious issue of concern, the embassy assured.
