Outgoing students learn corporate skills from industry experts at IUB

The Office of Career Guidance, Placement and Alumni Relations (CGP&AR) of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) organised a Corporate Grooming Session on May 19 at the university auditorium. The program was organised in close collaboration with the five academic schools of IUB. 

The program, which was divided into two sessions, was specifically tailored to equip outgoing undergrad students with tools that would help them realise their potentials and overcome the challenges fresh graduates often face at the start of their careers. Participation at the event was made mandatory for all IUB students ready for graduation and internship. 

The first session was jointly conducted by the Executive Vice President and Head of Department of Organizational Development & Employee Relations, bKash Limited Sayeed Nasir, and Assistant Manager, Digital Employee Engagement and Branding, bKash Limited Tasnim Zaman. 

Students were given demonstrations on how to write winning CVs and cover letters and how to excel in interviews.

In the second session, Unit Head - Group HR, Mutual Trust Bank Ltd. and IUB business graduate Lamiya Bushra shared real life examples and anecdotes from her career that spanned over 15 years in a range of different HR roles in multinational companies and corporate commercial banks.

While addressing the students, IUB Pro-VC Prof. Niaz Ahmed Khan explained the importance of determination and honesty for a successful career. School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Dean Prof. Dr Taiabur Rahman stressed on relationships and networking alongside knowledge and skills. CGP&AR Assistant Director Sharmeen Islam conducted the program and delivered the vote of thanks to the guests and participants.
