Although Bangladesh archers have been performing well in the individual events of the Archery World Cup Stage-1, Bangladesh were eliminated from the team events of the competition in Antalya, Turkey yesterday.

Bangladesh men's recurve team -- featuring Sagor Islam, Hakim Ahmed Rubel and Ruman Sana -- who stood 16th in the qualification round, suffered a 5-1 defeat to 17th-placed Croatia. Ruman and Co could only compete in the third set, in which they drew to bag their solitary point.

The women's recurve team, who got a bye in the first round, courtesy of having finished 12th in the qualification round, also bowed out from the second round with a 6-2 against fifth-placed Italy, who kept their nerve to bounce back to win three sets in a row after losing the first against a Bangladesh team comprising – Diya Siddique, Fahmida Sultana and Nasrin Akter.
