Bangabandhu Cup Int’l Kabaddi from March 19
The second edition of the Bangabandhu Cup International Kabaddi is set to get underway at the capital from March 19.
Commemorating the Golden Jubilee of Independence and the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) will organise the event that will see eight teams – England, Kenya, Iraq, Malaysia, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Nepal and hosts Bangladesh – compete for the glory.
Bangladesh are the defending champions as they won the inaugural edition by beating Kenya 34-28 in April last year.
The participating teams are scheduled to arrive in the capital on March 16 and 17.
"In the last edition there were five counties but in this edition we have eight countries in the meet. I have every hope that Bangladesh will retain the title" said Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, the director general of RAB and the president of BKF, during a press conference held at the kabaddi stadium on Monday.
The jersey of the national team was also unveiled by the guests present at the presser.
