Chess prodigy Fahad Rahman will leave for Russia today to take part in the FIDE World Chess Championship, which will get underway from Tuesday.

Chess prodigy Fahad Rahman will leave for Russia today to take part in the FIDE World Chess Championship, which will get underway from Tuesday.

Fahad, who earlier this year earned his rights to become an International Master after winning the Asian Zonal Championship in Dhaka, will play his first-round match against the second-seed Grandmaster Anish Giri of Netherlands.

International arbiter Haroon Or Rashid, who has been appointed as arbiter in the World Cup, will accompany Fahad.
