National Judo gets underway today amid huge enthusiasm

The NOVOAIR 38th National Judo Championship got underway at the Shaheed Suhrawardi Indoor Stadium in Mirpur today amid huge enthusiasm among the participants.

310 players – 162 males and 148 females – from 31 districts, divisions, universities, and services teams will be vying in 14 events – seven each for male and female athletes.

Mofizur Rahman, managing director of NOVOAIR, declared the competition open while Bangladesh Judo Federation president Fayzur Rahman, general secretary Kamrun Nahar Hiru and other office bearers of both sponsors and federation were present.

Mentioning the impact of the sports in society in building the nation, Mofizur Rahman informed that NOVOAIR has been sponsoring various sports including football, cricket, volleyball, and golf under its social corporate responsibilities.

The BJF president said that they have taken various initiatives to popularise Judo in a bid to achieve success at the international level.
