Bangladesh were hammered 6-2 by Oman in the final of the Asian Games Qualifiers in Bangkok on Sunday, ending Bangladesh's 10-match winning streak which started in the AHF Cup in March.

The men in red and green, who had beaten the same opposition in a penalty shootout in the AHF Cup final two months ago after a win in the group stages, surrendered meekly in today's final.

With both teams having comfortably made it to the Asian Games proper, it was a matter of pride between the 23rd-positioned Oman and the 29th-positioned Bangladesh.

But Bangladesh, who came into this fixture on the back of 10 consecutive wins, failed spectacularly right from the beginning of this fixture.

The Omanis took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter, scoring in the fourth, eighth and 10th minutes to have a stranglehold on the game. They extended the margin in the 34th minute before Ashraful Islam pulled one back for Bangladesh in the 48th minute. However, Oman restored their four-goal cushion three minutes later and extended it with a minute left.

Although Fazle Rabbi scored one goal for Bangladesh in the last minute, it came as a mere consolation for Iman Gobinathan Krishnamurthy's charges.
