Ruman, Diya eliminated from mixed event

Archers Ruman Sana and Diya Siddiqui were eliminated from the pre-quarterfinal stage of recurve mixed event of the Tokyo Olympics on Saturday morning.

The Bangladeshi archers lost against top-ranked South Korea by 6-0 set points.

Bangladesh had qualified as the 16th and last team in the competition and hence got the top-ranked side as their opponents in this stage.

After losing the first set by a big margin of 38-30, Bangladesh showed some fight in the following sets but eventually lost by 35-33 and 39-38 points.

The two archers will, however, have other chances to write their names in history books when they play in individual rounds. Ruman will compete in men's recurve individual event on July 27 while Diya will compete in women's recurve individual event on July 29.
