Saif SC clinch title on debut

Newcomers Saif SC became unbeaten champions in the Walton Premier Division Chess League after playing out a 2-2 draw against Bangladesh Navy Chess Team in the ninth and final round at NSC Tower Auditorium Lounge yesterday.

Saif SC, who had earlier beaten main title contenders and holders Sheikh Russel MSC 3-1 on Tuesday, needed a draw in the last round to win their maiden title on debut. They did just that to finish with 17 points from nine games while Sheikh Russel MSC became runners-up with 16 points.

Bangladesh Navy Chess Team finished third with 13 points.
