Siddikur to play alongside Spieth
Bangladesh's premier golfer Siddikur Rahman will be looking for some inspiration for the new Asian Tour season, which kicks off today through the SMBC Singapore Open, from none other than the world's Number One golfer Jordan Spieth.
The 31-year-old Siddikur, who missed eight cuts in 19 appearances in the 2015 Asian Tour season to finish 24th in the Order of Merit, will be hoping to get back to some of his best form which saw him clinch two titles on the tour, the last of which came in November 2013.
And playing alongside Spieth, the 23-year-old American who already has two Major titles under his belt, could be the ideal opportunity for the Bangladeshi golfer to regain his fledging confidence. Siddikur has reportedly undergone a few mental training sessions under a psychologist in Dhaka prior to leaving for Singapore and is said to be in a positive frame of mind.
The one-million-dollar Singapore Open will feature the top 60 players from the Asian Tour, top 60 from the Japan Golf Tour Organisation (JGTO), the leading Singapore professionals and amateurs and invitees including players from the top 50 in the world.
