Siddikur Rahman got off to a tumultuous start in the first round of the True Thailand Classic yesterday. Bangladesh's premier golfer had to settle for par, after initially making inroads.

Siddikur made two birdies on the third and fourth holes, before hitting a bogey on the sixth. He would score one more birdie on the final hole, the 18th, but not before carding a double bogey on the 12th at the scenic Black Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin.

American Peter Uihlein was on top after a brilliant eight-under-par. He raced into the lead in the US 1.75 million dollar event following nine birdies against a single bogey.

Sweden's Pelle Edberg (-7) was second followed by Scotsman Scott Jamieson and Spaniard Javier Colomo (-6) in third.
