Zia leads in Delhi chess

GM Ziaur Rahman maintained his solo lead in the 16th Delhi Open International Rating Chess Tournament with five points after the fifth round in New Delhi yesterday.

GM Ziaur Rahman maintained his solo lead in the 16th Delhi Open International Rating Chess Tournament with five points after the fifth round in New Delhi yesterday.

Zia beat top-seed GM Amonatov Farrukh of Tajikistan in the fifth round. Zia played with black pieces in Sicilian Defence system and won after 23 moves. Zia was playing against GM Deep Sengupta of India in the sixth round, which was held yesterday evening.
