The Ministry of Youth and Sports on Tuesday announced a Tk 25 lakh grant for training of Bangladesh women’s kabaddi team, who recently won their maiden bronze medal in the Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship.

With Pakistan having announced a new schedule for South Asian Games from January 23 to 31 next year, Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) is planning to start preparation camp for athletes in April, subject to release of government fund.

Bangladesh women’s kabaddi team brightened their chances to reach the semifinals of 6th Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship after thrashing Malaysia 52-12 in a Group A fixture in Pardis, Tehran, Iran yesterday.

Bangladesh's placement in Group A is seen as a relatively easier path to the semifinals, securing at least a bronze medal—an achievement Bangladesh first attained in the tournament’s inaugural edition in 2005.
