The Bangladeshi archers reached the final of a big tournament for the first time as Ruman Sana and Diya Siddique moved into the Recurve mixed final event of the Archery World Cup in Lausanne yesterday.

The Bangladeshi pair, who finished 17th in the ranking round, came up with surprising results one after another to beat top-ranked Germany, 9th-ranked Spain and 12nd-ranked Canada on way to the final, where they will face second-ranked Netherlands on May 23.

Although Bangladeshi archers reached the finals and won gold medals on smaller stages such as the Asian Grand Prix and South Asian Games, they never played any finals on a stage as big as the World Cup, World Championships or Asian Championship. However, Ruman Sana once played the semifinals of the World Archery Championships in the Netherlands.
