Archery Championship begins

The ISSF International Solidarity Archery Championships began today with the qualification round for recurve event for men and the compound event for women at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium.

The ISSF International Solidarity Archery Championships began today with the qualification round for recurve event for men and the compound event for women at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey Stadium.

For men’s recurve event, Bangladesh’s Roman Sana accumulated 666 points out of possible 720 to finish first out of 26 participants.  His teammates Tamimul Islam, Sheikh Ibrahim and Shajib Sheikh became third, 10th and 11th with 647, 620 and 119 respectively.

For Women’s compound event, Rokhsana Akhter came first with 676 points while compatriots Bonna Akhtar, Ritu Akhtar and Soma Bisshash became fourth, fifth and sixth respectively with 659, 652 and 635 points. The women’s compound event had 12 participants. The elimination round for the men’s recurve event and women’s compound event will begin tomorrow.

State minister for Youth and Sports, Biren Shikder inaugurated the event at 3 pm.
