The Bangladesh national hockey team began their tour of India on the wrong foot as they suffered a 0-4 defeat to the India junior hockey team in their first practice match in Bangalore, India yesterday.

Shilannad Lakra gave the junior Indian side, which included 11 players from the national team's preliminary squad, the lead by converting a penalty in the fourth minute before doubling the margin in the 17th minute with a field goal. Dipsan Tikkery and Sudev Belimgga scored in the 38th and 41st minutes respectively to complete the rout.

According to the team themselves, they still have a ways to go when it comes to improving their passing and receiving skills.

Bangladesh, who are in India to play six practice matches as a part of their preparations for the Asian Games to be held in Jakarta in August-September, will play against the India A team in their second match today.
