Abahani and Mohammedan registered their third consecutive victories in the Green Delta Insurance Premier Division Hockey League at the Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium yesterday.

Defending champions Abahani thrashed Bangladesh Sporting Club 10-0 in the first match of the day, thanks to a treble from Arshad Hossain.

The Sky Blues scored five goals in either half, with veteran Krishna Kumar bagging a brace and Ashraful Islam, Roman Sarker, Afsar Uddin, Shohanur Rahman Sabuj and Shahidullah Rokon scoring one apiece.

The Dhanmondi giants started their campaign with a 10-0 win over Bangladesh Police before inflicting an 8-0 defeat on Victoria SC.

Mohammedan's win over Victoria Sporting Club, however, was a much more laboured one. Indian recruit Arvinder Singh gave the Black and Whites an 18th minute lead before Kamruzzaman Rana made it 2-0 from another penalty corner in the 42nd minute.

Victoria's Pakistani recruit Shaibaz Shaikh made it 2-1 in the 51st minute but Shamser Singh scored five minutes later to ensure a 3-1 victory for Mohammedan.

Meanwhile, Ajax SC beat Dhaka Wanderers 3-0 in the third match of the day.
