Dhumketu clinch maiden premier basketball title

Dhumketu Club emerged unbeaten champions in the Bangabandhu Unimed Unihealth Premier Division Basketball League, which concluded at the Dhanmondi Wooden Floor Gymnasium today.
This is the first title for Dhumketu in the sixth edition of the premier league. Last edition's champions Hornets SC settled for the runners-up spot after beating Rangers Club by 70-56 points in the last match of the league.
Tarek Aziz of Dhumketu was adjudged the most valuable player while Shamsuzzaman Khan Shoyeb became the highest scorer of the league.
The champions team received Tk 30,000 while the runners-up team received Tk 25,000. Each of the six teams received Tk 30,000 as participation money.
The league was held after a year's gap and did not feature six of the team's from the last edition including former champions Gregarious and Gladiators.
