Former NSC secretary Shamsul Islam passes away

AHM Shamsul Islam, former secretary of National Sports Council (NSC), breathed his last this morning at his residence in Kurigram. He was 74.

Islam, who had been suffering from various illness for the last few years, acted as the secretary of the sports regulatory body - NSC -- from 1983 to 1990 and served the government for 30 years before retiring as additional secretary, informed a press release from the youth and sports ministry.

State minister for youth and sports Zahid Ahsan Russel expressed his deep condolence to the family of the deceased and prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.
