Hockey goalkeeper's father dies from Covid-19

Mohammad Asif Hossain, father of former national hockey team's goalkeeper of Zahid Hossain, died of COVID-19 at Kurmitola General Hospital this morning. He was 72.

Hossain left behind wife, four sons, two daughters and a host of well-wishers to mourn his death.

Hossain, who breathed his last at the incentive care unit (ICU) of the hospital after being admitted there on April 26 with coronavirus positive dignosis, was laid to rest at Khilgaon Taltala graveyard in presence of family members.

Goalkeeper Zahid, meanwhile, expressed his dissatisfaction over his father's treatment at the hospital where doctors and nurses, accoring to him, could not pay great deal of attention to patients owing to shortage of personal protective equipments.     

This is the second death from novel coronavirus in Bangladesh's sports arena. A vice president of Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Sociaety Football Club had succumbed to coronavirus-related complications on April 16.
