Sana named breakthrough archer of 2019

Country’s best archer Ruman Sana has been recognised as the ‘breakthrough archer’ for 2019 by the world game’s governing body on Monday.

Bangladesh team’s German coach Martin Frederick has been recognised as the best coach as World Archery announced names of nines winners, based on public and expert votes.

San was also nominated in the category of best recurve male archer along with Brady Ellison of USA, Lee Woo Seok of South Korea, Khairul Anuar Mohamad of Malaysia and Mauro Nespoli of Italy, but the lad from Khulna failed to beat eventual winner Ellison in that category.

In 2019, Sana won a bronze medal in World Archery Championship after qualifying for 2020 Tokyo Olympics directly from the same competition. The 24-year-old then won a gold medal in Asia Cup Stage-2 competition and completed the year with triple gold medals in the South Asian Games.
