Sports ministry distributes Tk 2.15cr

The youth and sports ministry today disbursed more than Tk 2 crore among less fortunate athletes, organisers, sports journalists and sports related individuals, who have been facing hardship due to the coronavirus pandemic, through a programme at the National Sports Council today. 

State minister for youth and sports, Zahid Ahsan Russel, disbursed cheques among officials of Dhaka District Sports Associations and surrounding 10 districts while the rest of cheques were sent to respective DSAs and Divisional Sports Associations through post, said a press release from the ministry today.

"We had earlier distributed Tk one crore among 1000 athletes of different disciplines. We also distributed safety equipments among federations and today we have disbursed approximately Tk 2.15 crore among 64 DSAs, eight divisional sports associations and three sports journalists' associations," Russel was quoted as saying in the press release.

Each of the 64 DSAs will distribute their allocated money among 45 persons. Divisional sports associations will distribute the money among 10 persons while three sports journalists' associations will distribute their amounts according to their decisions.
