Bangladesh thumped authority over Scotland at Nelson today chasing down one of the highest World Cup scores ever and winning the match by six wickets.

However, Bangladesh remained number four in the Pool A chart second to Australia for run rate calculations. However, chances of Tigers in the quarterfinals emerged strong.

Put to bat first, Scotland piled 318 riding on a century and half from opener Kyle Coetzer against Bangladesh in the World Cup 2015 match at Nelson, blame to average bowling.

But, the good start was given away and the bowlers strayed from discipline on a pitch that has a reputation to be too friendly for the batsmen.

Coetzer guided Scotland to post their highest total in a World Cup play and against a Test playing nation. This is the third time an associate member scored over 300.

Taskin Ahmed claimed three wickets for Bangladesh with part-time bowler Nasir Hossain claiming two and Mashrafe, Shakib and Sabbir taking one apiece.

In reply, Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad made a record 139-run partnership to lay a solid foundation for the chase after Soumya Sarker was out early.

Bangladesh were one batsman short with opener Anamul Haque suffering a dislocated shoulder joint. He was seen at the Bangladeshi dugout near the end patched up with ice.

In a string of integral knocks so rarely seen, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Ahmed all contributing for a convincing win over Scotland.

Josh Davey took two wickets for Scotland with Iain Wardlaw and Alasdair Evans claiming one apiece.
