Women thumped by Malaysia in opener
The Bangladesh women's football team suffered a 7-1 defeat to Malaysia in their opener of the AFC Women's Futsal Championship in Bangkok yesterday.
The girls in red and green took the lead in the third minute in the five-a-side match when Masura Parvin struck, but Golam Rabbani Choton's charges failed to negotiate the pace of futsal thereafter.
Malaysia hit back in the same minute in the 20-minute-per-half match, before doubling the margin a minute later. They scored three more goals to take a 5-1 lead into the break before adding two more in the second half to complete the rout.
Bangladesh will play their second match against Vietnam on Friday.
