Exercising for a healthy heart

In a study published in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), researchers explored the benefits of different exercise patterns on heart disease risk. Current guidelines recommend at least 150 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity (MVPA) per week to lower the risk of heart disease. However, the researchers wanted to understand whether the distribution of exercise throughout the week made a difference in achieving these benefits.

Superagers: older adults with razor-sharp memory show better mental health

A new study published in The Lancet Healthy Longevity journal suggests that older adults with razor-sharp memories, known as ‘superagers,’ enjoy better mental health and move more quickly than typical older adults. Superagers, in their eighties, have memory abilities comparable to those of people decades younger. They seem to resist the age-related decline in memory that most people experience as they get older.
