K-pop fest heats up Dhaka

The popular K-Pop World Festival, a yearly international event and contest, takes place for the third time in Dhaka at the Shilpakala Academy, demonstrating that it is quite popular among Dhaka’s youths.

Who knew that Korean pop music, popularly known as K-Pop, is so popular in Dhaka?

Last week, the third K-Pop contest in Dhaka took place-- demonstrating that it is quite popular among Dhaka’s youths.

The contest held at the Shilpakala Academy was participated by ten Bangladeshi teams that performed either K-pop songs or group dances. Three top performers bagged awards at the contest organised by the Embassy of the Republic of South Korea and Korean culture community in Bangladesh.

This annual event has been taking place in Dhaka since 2015.

The popular K-Pop World Festival is a yearly international event and contest, organised by South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the support of numerous government agencies.
