Thousands in limbo as uncertainty continues over India-Bangladesh flights

Despite the assurance from foreign minister and Biman Bangladesh Airlines to start pre-booking of flights, lack of approval from Indian civil aviation authorities has kept resumption of aviation communication between India and Bangladesh on hold.

Despite the assurance from foreign minister and Biman Bangladesh Airlines to start pre-booking of flights, lack of approval from Indian civil aviation authorities has kept resumption of aviation communication between India and Bangladesh on hold.

Majority of Bangladeshis travel to India for medical purposes, and nearly half of the foreigners visiting India for medical purposes are Bangladeshis.

However, because of the pandemic, for the last four months passenger flights between India and Bangladesh have been shut off.

Recent confusion and lack of response from the Indian side has extended the plight of those aspiring to travel to India.

When will the flights resume? And what will happen to those who have booked flights, hotels and other appointments because of the assurance from Bangladeshi authorities?
