Azad Abul Kalam, president of the Actors' Equity, has expressed concern after hearing about these incidents.

This year’s election saw Azad Abul Kalam contesting for the presidency against Abdullah Rana, and Rashed Mamun Apu vying for the general secretary role against Shahed Sharif Khan.

For the post of general secretary, actor Shahed Sharif Khan and actor Rashed Mamun Apu are in the running. Several other actors are also contesting for various posts.

In a recent televised interview, actress Dilruba Hossain Doyel revealed that she, along with several other cast and crew members, has not been compensated for their work in the film “Chandrabati Kotha”, which was released in 2021. 

Actors Equity Bangladesh, the professional organisation of television actors currently led by renowned actor Tariq Anam Khan, today published a notice announcing the enlistment of four additional members to the interim reforms committee.

Artistes advocating for reforms have raised several concerns about Actors Equity Bangladesh, the professional organisation of television actors, demanding significant changes.

The controversy surrounding the WhatsApp group "Alo Ashbei" has shaken Actors Equity Bangladesh, leading to show-cause notices being issued to two executive members, Sazu Khadem and Urmila Srabonti Kar.

Several members of Actors Equity Bangladesh came together to call for reforms within the organisation. Today, they convened a meeting at 11am at Ground Zero in Niketan, where numerous artistes discussed the current issues regarding the organisation. 

The day-long event, divided into an annual general meeting and a cultural celebration, drew numerous participants, including famed artistes Mamunur Rashid, Abul Hayat, and Jaya Ahsan, amongst others.

Last night, all litigations against Ziaul Faruq Apurba, including breach of contract and embezzlement, were resolved after the meeting with the Television and Digital Program Producers Association of Bangladesh (Telepab) and the Actors Equity took place on Saturday (March 16).

Actors Equity Bangladesh’s President Ahsan Habib Nasim, General Secretary MM Kamrul Hasan Rawnak, Organising Secretary Saju Khadem, and Law and Welfare Secretary Urmila Srabonti Kar have donated Tk 2.5 lakh each.

According to the association’s decision, Homayra's Janaza (funeral prayer) will be held at the Channel i courtyard in the capital city after the Jummah prayer today (November 3). This solemn occasion will allow her colleagues and the industry as a whole to pay their respects to the departed artiste. Following the prayer, Homayra will be laid to rest near Laxmipur, marking her final journey.

Yesterday, Actors Equity Bangladesh held a press conference to announce that they are launching a special legal wing to protect TV artistes. TV actress Sadia Jahan Prova had her session where she addressed her fear regarding journalists, and how she is trying to maintain distance from them as some even tried ‘touching’ her.

Yesterday, a special press meeting was organised where Ahsan Habib Nasim,President of Actors Equity, along with several artistes talked to the media about the alarming issues. 

While a lot of people have expressed their opinions in protest of his remarks, majority of the cultural and arts background individuals have voiced their support for Mamunur Rashid

Eminent artistes like Dolly Zahur, Dilara Zaman, Suborna Mustafa, Mosharraf Karim, Mir Sabbir, Shahnaz Khushi, Jaya Ahsan, Azmeri Haque Badhan. Tanvin Sweety, Tariq Anam Khan all were present at the celebration.
