After receiving a USD 1 million settlement from ex-wife Amber Heard, Johnny Depp has decided to donate the entire sum to various charities.

Amber Heard will make her first film promotion appearance in a while at the 69th Taormina Film Festival, for the world premiere of "In the Fire".

Actor Amber Heard said on Monday she would settle defamation claims that were brought against her by ex-husband and fellow actor Johnny Depp, ending years of legal wrangling over dueling claims of abuse during their marriage. In an Instagram post, Heard said the decision to settle with Depp was “very difficult” and followed “a great deal of deliberation.” The actress said this was “not an act of concession.” In June, Depp had won a mulimillion-dollar jury verdict for his defamation suit against Heard.

Johnny Depp is set to return as the infamous Captain Jack Sparrow on the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise. It was recently reported by The Daily Mail, a British newspaper, that the actor was in talks with Disney regarding a USD 300 million deal, after he won the defamation lawsuit against Amber Head.

Could a jury that was witness to this lopsided public support for Depp, truly be relied upon to deliver a verdict unencumbered by any of it, as was expected of them?
